Yesterday I had the privilege of hearing Inky Johnson speak at a convention luncheon that I attended. It was a secular gathering but he took us to church. I appreciated all that he had to say but there were a couple of things that resonated deeply. When we fail to achieve our lifelong dreams, we must ask, “Am I really failing, or is God prevailing?” I remember being in Liberia and hearing the leader of Crown Financial Ministries for Africa say much the same thing. He was talking to people about making character sacrifices to get their children into the right school so that they could have a better chance of success in life (no small thing in Africa). His question was much the same as Inkys, Who says that its Gods plan for your son or daughter to attend that particular school. Inky also said that he focuses on two words in his life, Honor and Legacy. He constantly honors those who went before him (parents, teachers, coaches, etc.) to make a way for him. And he lives every day to leave a legacy so that those who come after him will have a chance to succeed in life as well. He reminded us of the signs in airplane bathrooms that say, When youre finished please wipe out the sink so that the person following you will find it better than you did. I didnt know about Inky Johnson until yesterday. Perhaps you might like to learn more through reading his book at inkyjohnson.
