Yesterday we laid my father to rest. It was a perfect day. It started at 7am when I ran to the dry cleaners to pickup my shirt. There was a deep blue sky, bright and warm sun, a gentle, cool breeze and a peaceful, calming silence, which instantly took me back to our family vacations down the shore when my dad and I would get up early one morning to pickup fresh, hot bagels at a bakery. Then my dads viewing/service was perfect and was attended by several hundred friends and family members. We then took a peaceful car ride in the funeral procession through gorgeous Bucks County to Washington Crossing National Cemetery, where the military honored my father with a 21 gun salute, Taps on the bugle, and a moving flag ceremony in which my mother was presented with the flag that draped my fathers casket. The Guardsman thanked my mother on behalf of the President of the United States for my dads service to our great country. It was so touching and moving. We then finished our day with a wonderful luncheon with great fellowship and food at the new Giuseppes in Warminster. We all were so touched and moved by the amazing outpouring of love from so many this past week and yesterday. From words of support and encouragement, to all of the texts/emails/messages/cards, to meal deliveries, to running errands for us, to paying a landscaper to mow my grass, to neighbors mowing my moms grass and taking out her trash, and to the nonstop love and hugs. Its been a completely moving experience which I know we will get through, thanks largely to all of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the awesome support. My dad was an amazing man which has become even more evident this past week. We love and appreciate all of you.
