Yesterday we visited the Lipton tea factory and learned several facts about tea! The tea picker ( mostly women because they work faster!) is expected to pick 20kg per day (varies with the season). She is paid approx $3.38 per day. The tea bush grows new leaves to be picked every 7 days and requires heavy pruning every 5 years to continue producing for 50-100 years! It takes 24hours to process tea from the field to the 50-65kg shipping bag We will now drink our cup of Lipton with a new appreciation and fun memories!
