An update appeared on the singers official account saying: “News of Yo Yos accident is a fake rumour must be spread by some haters. Please dont bother and Keep blessing Yo Yo [sic].” This is not the first time the social media rumour mill has killed off a celebrity, only this time it is Bollywood that has found itself a target. While the news spread like wildfire across Twitter and Facebook too, the man in questions last public sighting was in Dubai, while promoting the Global Fighting Championships at the World Trade Centre. The rapper has plans to take the fight league to India. Meanwhile, fans of the singer were also tweeting pictures of Honey Singh from a hospital bed in Punjab, which others have refuted and said are from a show on MTV India. Others have placed him in Jaipur. While the manhunt for his actual location continues on Twitter, his fans were far from impressed with the latest death hoax. Vj Vishal tweeted: “Yo Yo Honey Singh dead in car accident. RIP Honey Singh.” Ganesh Maurya asked: “Yo Yo Honey Singh died in accident? Is it true?” Aakash Ahuja tweeted to the singer saying: “Rumours about your death are going on social media. Kindly, tweet the truth and inform your fans as soon as possible.” HR wrote: “Yo Yo Honey Singh is absolutely alright; please don’t be part of such a cheap rumour.” Honey Singh has yet to respond to the fan frenzy generated in his wake. Over the last few years, several celebrity deaths have circulated on social media, including that of Bollywood stars Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Ayushmaan Khurranna.
