You know I wasnt going to say anything about this whole ordeal - TopicsExpress

You know I wasnt going to say anything about this whole ordeal with the Brown shooting but seeing more and more ignorant things flutter the internet is just disturbing. Are these people doing Brown any justice by looting and vandalizing? No. I think its just as inhumane as the shooting itself. These acts only further hinder the image of the African American community as we lose sight of the improvements as a whole we have made as a people over the past few decades. Proper means of protesting should be the only response to this tragedy in an attempt that this unfortunate young man and his family can receive justice. However, people trying to fabricate justice for the officer in the situation should be ashamed of themselves. Will we ever know exactly what happened? Probably not. However, a compilation of eye witness testimony is giving us enough information that this seems to be yet another senseless forceful act from the individuals who are sworn to serve and protect. Lets first not forget that the officer had no prerequisite knowledge of who these men were or what they might have done in the past, they were approached for JAYWALKING. The officer then seemingly brought the confrontation onto himself by returning to where the men were after a verbal exchange that he did not appreciate. There are too many cops with an authority complex roaming our streets. This necessity to satisfy an unconscious need for authority by implementing forms of over-submission, dominance and hostility brings an adverse effect to their job description. Regardless of whichever account of the story is true in whether or not the cop was assaulted by Brown after the altercation ensued, 6 shots to a fleeing UNARMED individual is overkill. Also, what happened to his other disabling means of self-defense? Would pepper spray or a taser not have been as effective in diffusing the situation? Could he have called for back up at the first instance of the situation boiling over and struggle through the altercation until help arrived? Or even put the car in drive, remove himself from the situation then return with a different approach? Yes brown was a very burly individual, and even if he was reaching for the officers gun in which is being speculated, the officer was still in his car which places a door between him and brown. His gun, being HOLSTERED on either hip, should have either been far from browns reach or with the potential for the officer to maneuver his hips to keep it away from brown. Basically there are a number of ways the situation could have been handled without ending this young mans life, and thats what truly needs to be considered when seeking justice for this young man. Everything else will always be subjective, because unless the officer comes out and admits to being a racist and killed this man and handled the situation the way he did because this man was black, then it will only be a speculative debate. Are African Americas still mistreated and does racism still exist in our society today, of course, but thats a whole other topic to be discussed. We should be discussing preventative measures in maybe looking at the requirements for police officers and acceptance into academies, their mental capacity and their training methods. I hate to say this because Im an advocate for open minds and opinions, but if you for whatever reason think the officer is justified in his actions before and after firing his weapon youre a damn fool and should be ashamed of yourself. Its time something is done about police brutality, did we not learn from the Rodney King incident all of those years ago? #brown #justiceforbrown #policebrutality #stopthekilling
