You may have heard about the Heartbleed bug affecting a number of secure transaction websites. Heartbleed can allow outsiders to steal personal information, like names and passwords. Vulnerable websites need to update their security software to fix the bug. Mashable recommends that consumers: 1. look out for an official announcement about a security update from any secure website that you normally use 2. after youve confirmed that a site or service has installed a security update, change your passwords 3. keep an eye on any of your sensitive online accounts (banking, webmail) for suspicious activity for at least a week Our general advice is to change all your passwords on a regular basis.
