Zamzam Water * After Hajar gave birth to Ismaˆil, Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, took them to Makkah. At that time, Makkah was uninhabited. Allah revealed to Prophet Ibrahim to leave Hajar and Ismaˆil there. Ibrahim did as he was ordered. He left a container of water and a container of dates with them. When they drank the water and Hajar could no longer breastfeed Ismaˆil, he began to cry of thirst. Searching for water, Hajar climbed up the little mount as-Safa, went back down and climbed up al-Marwah. She went back down al-Marwah and climbed up as-Safa again. She made this trip between as-Safa and al-Marwah a total of seven times. Then, Allah rescued them by making Zamzam water spring out from the ground. Zamzam water still flows today. * Zamzam water is very beneficial. Muslims use it in seeking cures and blessings.
