confessions of a UKIPper , once again we hear that UKIP want to privatise the NHS (this time from the man employed to keep their dirty laundry secret). Wish we could remove healthcare totally from politics. The sad truth is many could NOT afford private health. Yes healthcare is an expensive luxury, and yes it takes more money every year. (Every new treatment adds on cost, drug companies charge extortionate prices for many medicines{even if NHS/government has been instrumental in their development}) Medicine is keeping people alive longer (but not necessarily healthy). Reductions in quality of living increases the strain on the system (ie malnutrition, social exclusion, reduced social care), putting the cost up more. On top of this the NHS is coping with PFI bills, inflation, extra management to cope with private tendering etc. The overlooked issue is that the public pa, the state, for the upkeep of the NHS via NI and tax as part of the contract between us and them. IF a private company can run (and make a profit) the NHS - while paying fair wages - there is absolutely why the state cant do the same. BUT recent event show that the private sector do not have the competence to run 1 NHS trust. #timeforchange time for #tusc #tusc15
