***long post alert** I was reading today that hysterectomies are the #1 surgery currently performed on women... Thats ludicrous! Every 10 minutes, 12 hysterectomies are performed in the US! You may wonder why this matters... The thing is, these are on young women... Often due to endocrine/hormonal related illnesses that COULD possibly have been better treated (prior to getting to the point of major surgery) with DIET adjustments and a little attention to the female body and reproductive system. What scares me is that most women have absolutely no clue how their body functions. Even us in the healthcare system know very little... We instead, chalk up our PMS and other hormonal issues to just being female when, in actuality, theres ways to better control these things if we simply knew what our bodies needed. We as a society look for the magic pill to solve all problems. Im not against medicine. I feel it has its place but Im also a strong believer that food can be our medicine if we take the time to learn what nature has to offer. The female body is truly amazing. So intricate and complex. We live in this body and yet have no idea how it works. We research more about our next phone or computer than we do our own body and thats crazy...
