Nympha Carbon left the Philippines on July 9 and will stay at the Filipino Workers Resource Center (FWRC) in Hong Kong while waiting for clearance to bring home her sisters remains, according to Administrator Rebecca J. Calzado of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Calzado said this was part of the assistance being extended to the Carbon family following Arlenes death. Arlene, 43, died last June 30 after falling from the 43rd floor of the Grand Promenade, Tower 3 in the Sai Wan Ho district. The Chai Wan Police reported the case as death of a “person who fell from height,” but Arlenes relatives in the Philippines are suspecting foul play. “Hindi niya yan magagawa [suicide],” said Ailyn, one of Arlenes sisters, in an earlier report. “Imposible yan dahil napakarami pa ng kanyang pangarap.” Calzado said because of Arlenes active status with OWWA before her death, Nympha and her family will receive death and burial benefits of P220,000 and a livelihood assistance of P15,000.
