ok guys i wanted to tell you something about melody and percussions. first of all Im saying my own opinion, is not the truth. i just play percussions since 11 years (which means nothing), but Im so lucky i could met an amazing master 5 years ago, who shown me the sufi way to play a percussion...just with love trough beauty, when before i was into technique and competition... now i can see straight away who is into same feelings. i see so many hand pan player with very good skills, but missing a big point. if you want we can speak in private about this and i will share with you what he shared with me. a percussion is earth energy. a handpan is a percussion and melody. try to remember not to hit it as a percussion, try to think its element is not earth, is SPACE. it needs inner calm, you dont need to hit it one million times super fast, you dont need to show who has the best technique. check your metronome, it is so connected with your center and inner emotion. try to please not your fingers, but your ears and listeners ears... and if you can, try to study some traditional percussion tricks...but be careful: dont forget, handpan is not only a percussion and its element is SPACE. for my opinion indian tabla or turkish darbuka have good things to take...sadly the only things you can find are just people trying to be faster than others...ahahhah gosh my ears need some HARMONY...... thanks for reading :)
