on a different note then usual: Homemade Baby Cookies and Teething Biscuits 2 Replies Olive loves to eat! Some of her favorite things to eat right now are baked sweet potato fries, cantaloupe, and Cheerios. I have to watch her carefully because she will grab a handful of whatever she’s eating and put the whole thing in her mouth! Though I’m thrilled that she is loving the fruits and veggies I wanted look for a homemade whole foods alternative to the packaged cereal. I was also hoping to find something for Olive to gnaw on while she’s cutting teeth. So, I came up with this super easy recipe that can be used for healthy soft baby cookies or healthy hard teething crackers. What you need: 2 ripe bananas 1 cup Oat flour (I grind organic oats in my baby bullet) 1 t cinnamon 1/4 t nutmeg what you do: Put the bananas, cinnamon, and nutmeg into the baby bullet and mush it up (you can use a food processor or blender as well but considering this is such a small amount both of those would be too big. It would probably be just as easy to squish it up with a fork). Mix in oat flour until you have a sticky dough. Coat your hands with oat flour and squish the dough out onto a clean surface. You could probably use a rolling pin but there really is no need to. Add a bit of oat flour to the surface if you’re worried about he dough sticking. Cut the dough into whatever shapes you’d like. I chose 3-4 inch sticks. If you are following the teething biscuit recipe make sure to cut the biscuits large enough for baby to hold onto. Place cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet. bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until they start to brown just a little. Here’s the variation: If you’re making the cookies- good! you’re done! Break them into appropriately sized pieces for baby at meal time. If you’re making the teething biscuits- turn the oven off and let the cookies sit in the cooling oven. This will dry them out and make them hard. Be sure to supervise closely while baby gnaws on these as the size of teething crackers are a possible choking hazard.
