vimeo/109154910 WHO IS STONEY B? Stoney B (Michael Stone) was born May 29th, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up listening to his father, Lil’ Howlin’ Wolf, playing the blues. Lil Howlin Wolf learnt his blues from the Chicago Blues Legend, Howling Wolf. Stoney B’s passion for the blues really took hold when he began teaching himself the bass guitar at the age of 13 and formed his first band at the age of 15 competing mostly in talent shows around Chicago, including one against the Jackson 5. Since then he has continued to fulfil his heart felt desire of bringing his blues music to audiences around the US. During Stoney Bs career he has played behind well known blues musicians such as Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, Johnny Guitar Embry and the Blues Kings, Son Thomas, Homesick James, Lavelle White, Lovie Lee, Roosevelt Boobie Barnes and Willie Mississippi Foster. In 2014, Stoney B, with 46 years of experience, has become a highly accomplished guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and recording artist of the Blues. He is noted for his dynamic vocals and soulful guitar. Stoney B not only has lots of talent but that wonderful gift of communication which grabs people’s attention as he brings them into a truly enjoyable, masterful and often humorous experience as he entertains them with the Down Home Blues. During that time I was also playing a lot with Stoneys father, Little Wolf, who was (and still is) one of the best interpreters of Howling Wolfs style. Stoney was very supportive and welcoming while they were playing, gave her leads and listened.
