watching the coverage go our President Michael D. Higgins, visit to Britain, and being hosted by her Majesty the Queen in Windsor Castle, truly has struck a chord with me, the thousands of spectators who have travelled from all over the county, to see the spectacle that is the visit, seeing the tricolour and the union jack flying side by side was also truly amazing, the effort and the attention to detail that has been used in this visit, is amazing, the playing of our national anthem was truly humbling, for the first time in the years that the grand hall has stood and hosted many political persons, it is the first time that the tune, of our national anthem Amhran na bhfiann, has graced the building, the respect shown by both leaders, politicians and spectators of both countries is admirable, the talk of history both independent of both and the input that Britain has had in Ireland and likewise the input the Ireland has had on Britain and the British people, the honour shown to the irish men and women who gave their lives in all roles in the British Army and the fight for Irish Freedom, was an honourable input, by the Queen, i know this is long and trust me i could talk longer but ill leave you with the one quote form our president which has had the most resonance with me and that is that The shadow of the past will be the shelter of the future and i think that, that is the best way to describe the relationship of both nations this very day.
