yep, in the farm kitchen right now, because we are so not the amazing Pioneer Woman & everyone needs someone on the low end of the bell curve to make them feel better & hey, wed love to help out on that front ;) Exhibit A: a burning roast. because I always set the pressure cooker on high for too long just so I can fly into the kitchen like a wild banshee monkey when the house starts to smell like a burnt sacrifice gone very, very wrong. Scrub out the crispy pot. Turn the fan to high. Start again. Try to convince kids that is just spices that they smell. Exhibit B: a kid experimenting with making coffee in a French Press for the first time, with her math lesson all spread out under coffee grinds, and when I ask what that stack of white things are beside her and the coffee beans and papers and erasers and books, she informs me that those are her floss sticks. Of course. Flossing while youre doing math, experimenting with coffee, makes perfect sense. Exhibit C: Son 4 whipping up a batch of brownies. Who informs me that we dont have coconut flour so he just used tapioca flour instead. Same Dif. (?!?!) Who then tells me that we are out of eggs to finish the recipe hes got dripping all over the counter. But! Not to worry! Hell go to the Mennonite neighbours down the road! In the dark! And get a dozen to tie us over! Right after he changes his shirt that he combined corn out in the field today: But really, Mom -- they know Im a working farm boy, so really, I could go looking like I walked out of the barn. They like folks like that better, really.
