After arriving in Brazil and being in Sao Paulo for two days, - TopicsExpress

After arriving in Brazil and being in Sao Paulo for two days, Marina and I already embarked on our first trip together in brazil! We packed our bags and said our goodbyes because we were going on a road trip towards Rio de Janeiro! Along the way we had multiple stops planned to both lower the amount of driving each time and to enjoy some of the most amazing places I have ever been to. While the ride itself was nice because of the scenery and company, it does have its downsides like all the holes in the road, speedtraps along the way and busy traffic. Our first stop was Paraty, which is a small city that is known for its waterfront scenery and boat trips to the islands that are close to its harbor. We arrived late in the afternoon so no boat trip for us the first day, but we did get the tickets for a boat the next day. At night we had a super nice dinner at a restaurant that was recommended by a friend, and we both highly recommend it for everyone else. It was a restaurant that focussed on esfirras, which is a dish that has arabian roots, but is easily identifiable as small pizzas (10cm diameter roughly). We ate five with the two of us and spend only half of what we spend on a normal dinner together, it was amazing! The next day it was time for the boat trip. We were going to sail past loads of small islands and make multiple stops at different places known for different aspects. Like the turquoise water at one, the nice beach at another and the fish at yet another spot. In general the whole trip was gorgeous, the weather was perfect because it was sunny but not full sun all day, the stops looked beautiful, and the boat was really nice as well. There was a live musician who played various songs and incorporated facts about the surrounding in the songs. So at times he would sing what island it was, how much it would cost to buy it and who lives on it for example. All in all it was an amazing boattrip in a beautiful setting, we loved it! The next day we went to another town called Trindade, it was fairly close by and it has an amazing beach so we had to go! The vibe was super relaxed and it seemed almost like a hippy village. After relaxing a bit we went for a hike to the natural pools at the end of the beach. It was a nice hike with some steep parts, but the reward justified the trip. The natural pool is an enclosed part of the sea with limited accessibility, so the water lies very still instead of the constant waves outside of the rock pool. After lingering for a bit we walked back and watched the sunset on the beach before we ended the night and out stay in Trindade. The next part of the trip will be another post in a few days, so stay tuned!
