By Christine Tomorrow it will be a week since Jack got home from the hospital. He is making slow but steady progress. Its amazing how something as simple as a shower is now an ordeal. We had a medical shower chair delivered (along with commode and walker) and today the OT came and instructed us on the safest way to get him in and out of the tub. Showering has been a source of anxiety and dread for Jack as he hated it in the hospital because he was so cold and could not retain any dignity. I think today things went a bit smoother for him and we have a good plan in place. It does however take a great deal of energy to accomplish. After his shower a short nap and my dad picked us up for our clinic visit. Counts look good today with some things like swelling and constipation being watched carefully. Home to administer 4 hour IV fluids and a nap as Jack was exhausted. After our ritual of a bite for dinner, the national news and Jeopardy we watched an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. This was because since the transplant Jack says he now sounds like Ray Romano...Well, perhaps.
