From a momma: My daughter got a g-tube at 5 months of age when she got her trach because of subglotic stenosis and extremely severe reflux that damaged her esophagus. She got the trach and g-tube out at 5 yrs old and she will be 8 next month. Well next month she has to have another major stomach surgery to fix her hiatal hernia and tighten up her nissen. They said because this is not her first major stomach surgery they have to give her the g-tube again. Does anyone else have any experience with their child having to get a g-tube back after not needing one for so long? She eats just fine by mouth but they want to give it to her just incase. She only has GI and breathing problems so she is well aware of what will be happening and is terrified. I dont hide or sugar coat thing for my children. She knows it will hurt and that it will be temporary I just dont know what else to do or tell her to ease her mind. She knows that mom and dad will be there for her every second but she still has a lot of anxiety about it. Any suggestions will help TIA
