Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend - TopicsExpress

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. – Psalm 119: 165 “We have forgotten our roots. We have dismissed the ‘In God We Trust’ motto that we so loved for the last two hundred and thirty plus years. The signers of the Constitution were mindful of the place of religion and spirituality in the framework of government. It was not to be permitted to favor one over another, yet was meant to be the guiding light within each and every person empowered to make the weighty decisions that faced the nation. That is why there are swearings and oaths taken by our elected officials even unto today.... ‘so help me God.’ Nowhere was separation of Church and State ever intended, directly or indirectly, to be a mechanism for a Godless society. The founders, to a man, were faith-filled and solidly so.” - Gregory P. Demetriou, CEO of Lorraine Gregory Communications Group, “Political Correctness as Taught by Abraham Lincoln,” from Huffington Post, 6 August, 2013 Were our founders just Neanderthals who lacked enlightenment? Do we think that had they been around in our day that they would know better than to place such reliance on God? Or, is it our own generation who has lost the light of truth? We must understand that there is a great difference between being offensive and being offended. It is true that there are offensive people in the world, who do and say offensive things, but whether or not I am offended by that is really my choice. Do you ever ask yourself, “Why are so many people so easily offended these days?” Is it fair to suggest that the reason is that easily offended people have no, or very little, peace in their own hearts? Too often the criterion of “offensive” is subjective. For example, if I say the name “Jesus” in a reverent and worshipful manner, I am being offensive to some people, yet, I can use the name as an expletive and it is not considered an offense. Odd, isn’t it? Abraham Lincoln said, “We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it.” As believers, let us practice the principle taught by our Lord, to be wise as serpents, yet, harmless as doves.
