Humble Hearts Organization This organization is AMAZING. How about you guys go like their page. If you live in Chicago share it. Maybe youre cleaning out your closets and have gently used clothes and shoes you can donate. Maybe you have furniture youre trying to get rid off to make space for new things; how about donating all of those things to Humble Hearts. You may not make a financial profit but you will gain the satisfaction that you are somehow helping the less fortunate, the homeless somewhere in Chicago. You can also donate food or cook a day for them. Many of us are quick to judge the homeless by appearance. We assume they must be drug addicts, drunks, criminals, etc.... and maybe some of them could be but who are we to judge? Are we God? NO!!! Some of them may be better dressed than others some may not look like stick and bones but that does not mean they are not hungry or not homeless. Let’s not jump to assumptions and judge. We do not know what got them in this situation but you should know that homelessness CAN happen to anyone. You can have it all today but that can all be taken away in the blink of an eye. I know we do not always have a few dollars here and there to give to each homeless person we come across in our day but there are other ways you can contribute and help out. Spreading the word about this organization can help them find furniture/clothes/shoes/blankets/food that will help them continue with this ministry. This is a ministry! NOT everyone has the strength, humbleness and compassion these ladies have. What they do is rough and they do it daily. That is draining not only physically but I can imagine emotionally too. Still theyre out there every day. These ladies have their own lives, jobs, families and struggles and still they are out there helping others. So I ask you to please not be cynical and judgmental about the homeless because the truth is we do not know their story. The truth is they are, like you, a child of God. The truth is they are not perfect but neither are you. The truth is homelessness can happen to anyone so let us have compassion. Don’t make jokes at the expense of a sick, hungry, thirsty, lonely homeless person; that is just mean and cruel. Instead just remember in what ways God has come through for you and helped you when you’ve needed him and think of how you can pay it forward. Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, Luke 6:38 For if you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use to give--large or small--will be used to measure what is given back to you. Prov. 19:17 When you help the poor you are lending to the Lord--and he pays wonderful interest on your loan! 1 John 3:17 But if someone who is supposed to be a Christian has money enough to live well, and sees a brother in need, and wont help him--how can Gods love be within him ? 1 John 3:18Little children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions. 1 John 3:19 Then we will know for sure, by our actions, that we are on Gods side, and our consciences will be clear, even when we stand before the Lord. Prov. 21:13 He who shuts his ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in his own time of need. Prov. 28:27 If you give to the poor, your needs will be supplied! But a curse upon those who close their eyes to poverty. James 2:14 Dear brothers, whats the use of saying that you have faith and are Christians if you arent proving it by helping others? Will that kind of faith save anyone? James 2:15 If you have a friend who is in need of food and clothing, James 2:16 and you say to him, Well, good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat hearty, and then dont give him clothes or food, what good does that do? James 2:17 So you see, it isnt enough just to have faith. You must also do good to prove that you have it. Faith that doesnt show itself by good works is no faith at all--it is dead and useless. James 2:18 But someone may well argue, You say the way to God is by faith alone, plus nothing; well, I say that good works are important too, for without good works you cant prove whether you have faith or not; but anyone can see that I have faith by the way I act.James 2:19 Are there still some among you who hold that only believing is enough? Believing in one God? Well, remember that the demons believe this too--so strongly that they tremble in terror!James 2:20 Fool! When will you ever learn that believing is useless without doing what God wants you to? Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith.
