I realized this morning I have been buying the wrong milk. I always peek at the Homestead Creamery milk, but only bought it once on managers special. You know, the one in the thick glass jug that is way more expensive than the whole gallon in plastic. Sure you can bring back the jug for a deposit, but theres no way it balances out, right? Wrong. A half gallon jug is $2.99 right now at Kroger. You get $2 back for the jug. Thats $1.98 for a gallon of milk. Considering right now most store brands are $3.50ish and brand name are around $5, I would say that would add up. I buy about a gallon a week just for myself because my son prefers water and my husband drinks soy. Thats around $80 a year in savings on the generic and over $150 on brand name. Thats just for ONE PERSON. Oh, did I mention it tastes better, has no artificial hormones, and is fairly local (VA)? It makes you wonder what other grocery items Im buying wrong.
