I went outside this morning with my granddaughter who is visiting - TopicsExpress

I went outside this morning with my granddaughter who is visiting with us, to observe the eclipse which was a sight to see, but the “eclipse” was eclipsed by the other sights that the clear sky provided. We were both amazed by the clarity of the sky with the Zillions of stars clearly displayed. Except for the difficulty that I experienced in looking up into the darkness while trying to maintain my balance, I felt like a kid again. The visible sky resembled the one that I remember as a child and often observed while lying stretched out on the cool grass in the summers of my childhood , undimmed by artificial lights, unpolluted by industrial haze, soundproofed by the silence of predawn and the absence of mechanical noises. I became a 12 year old with the clear vision of shooting stars (we saw several, one of which was a brilliant streak zooming to the southwest sky with a tail that streaked across nearly half of the visible sky.) It was great to be young again if only for a few moments. My city dwelling granddaughter was enlightened to the magnificence of the universe that I remember fondly, but I weep for the masses of young people who might never have the opportunity to see it. I said a short prayer and thanked my creator for allowing me to be a young kid again, a segment of my life that I cherish.
