IT IS LAKE VICTORIA OR LAKE OBAMA? It was John Hanning Speke who discovered the source of the river Nile in 1758 and named it after Queen Victoria who had never set her foot in Africa. The river Nile benefited the countries beside it tremendously. It was at the northern part of the Nile the father of Obama hailed from and went to the United States of America and begot Obama in 1961.Obama could be described as the best Afro American, since he was the first to break the color ceiling, but he could not be described as the most leading American president, maybe that may come later he had descended from the mantle of leadership. His shortcomings amongst many others is his failure to fully utilize the waters of the USA but leaving it entirely in the hands of the Federals.Water had served as a source of energy for many developing countries, and even the developed world.Obamas developmental plans had since relied on natural resources and paying less attention on the waters, the use of petroleum and other gases were invented around the 17th century.Unfortunately too for America,Obamas reign had coincided with the discovery of natural gases in many countries, and China could comfortably challenged the USA.Intersetingly enough most of the developing countries are close to coastal areas or rivers and yet clean water remains to be a problem,in fact most of them derived their names from the rivers or coats near them.Nigeria, the most populated country in Africa is named after the River Niger,Congo the biggest city in Africa is named after the River Congo,Ivory coast,Senegal, the Gambia,Upper Volta,Gold Coast now Ghana, but clean water continues to be a problem. It is easier to get a bottles of beer than a clean cup of cold water. In our hotels and in our refrigerators, all is hosted by imported water, what is wrong with our rivers, streams and lakes. For healthy reasons our breast feeding mothers are told not to breast fed their new babies but to give them the feeding bottle by mixing milk powder with water, but funnily enough these innocent mothers mix the clean milk powder with dirty water more catastrophe.Research had shown beyond doubt that almost three millions of African babies are killed by related water diseases, therefore what Africa needs is water aid but not food aid.Whatever,African governments should try to provide clean water for their people. It is against this background that i suggest that instead we maintain the name Lake Victoria,we renamed it Lake Obama save for the fact that Obama descended from that part of the world.
