Its Throwback Thursday! Some time around 1906 my grandfather Albert Arthur Richmond (1883-1939) and grandmother Della Beryl Durham Richmond (1887-1979) went on tour as the Richmond Illustrated Concert Co., touring western Oregon with at least one other performer, a lantern slide projector, and later on some movie film. Both my grandparents sang - my grandfather was a high tenor like me (and my father). I have 53 of the lantern slides and this handbill, but do not know very much more about the RICC. I didnt know about it until after my grandmothers death, so I didnt ask her about it. They had some hand-colored slides illustrating popular songs, and some photos of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
