Malton Police are appealing for witnesses after man suffered facial injuries when he was assaulted in the town. The man, aged 35, sustained a fractured cheekbone and concussion in the incident, which occurred at around 12.30am on Sunday 18 May 2014, in Market Place. He was treated for his injuries at York District Hospital. A 22-year-old man from Norton has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail as enquiries continue. Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them with information. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a verbal altercation between a group of men shortly before the incident occurred. Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 - select option 2 - and ask for PC Katie Shaw or Malton police.
