My RANT! This past week I signed up with AT&T tech-support program. It was a 1 yr contract. I did this so that I would not need to deal with computer problems. I did understand that after the 1st repair, I could not cancel without paying a large fee. At that same time, I used the tech support to fix 2 issues with the computer/internet. I was required to remain at the computer. When all was said and done, I had been on the phone with them for 10 straight hours. Every time they rebooted my computer (by remote) I was disconnected and had to call back and wait for the next available tech. I talked to 7 different people and had to reexplain the problem each time. By 1:30 am they had finally gotten me back on the internet. The other problem had not yet been resolved but I was too exhausted to go any further. When asked if this problem was solved, I replied yes to be done with it. My fault. I was so upset with the whole ordeal that I called AT&T yesterday to say I wanted to cancel the contract. They told me I could not without paying $120.00 penalty since I had already used the program. The fact that my other issue had not been addressed was my own fault. Then again, who could blame me after 10 hrs? Bottom line, the tech service was a nightmare and I wanted out. I told them if they insisted on charging me, I would cancel all contracts and usage with AT&T. They basically said "ok" and would put me through to the 3rd person who put me on hold for the 4th person. 20 mins of waiting. I was on the phone for over an hour and finally had to hang up without ever resolving this. Anyone have a suggestion for a better phone company? I think I may just get rid of the phone line and use cable for the internet.
