My nerdy review of The Worlds End The last film in the - TopicsExpress

My nerdy review of The Worlds End The last film in the cornetto trilogy The Worlds End brings a look at an invasion unlike any I’ve ever seen. The writing styles of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg are very apparent in the film. From the dialogue to the action sequences that are of nothing more than starting a car. The easter eggs which I will get into later are also a delight to behold. I truly enjoy anything that these guys are involved in. The movie starts off strong and does not disappoint. I found that there are no moments where the movie drags or is struggling to entertain. I wrote this little review out of boredom and sadness, but more on that later. NOW the easter eggs... Simon, Nick, and Edgar had a Television shown in 1998 Called Spaced. It was Nick Frosts first acting job, and a sleeper hit in the UK as well as the US later on. In The Worlds End the first sequence was used to explain the entire movie just like Shaun of the dead, and it also contained music use in Spaced. The next is the cast obviously Simon Pegg played Tim Bisley and Nick Frost played Mike Watt. Then the lady at the hotel was Julia Deakin or Marsha Klein The Land Lady. Then we had Mark Heap who played the overly nice Bartender who also played Brian Topp in Spaced. The Reverend Green played by Michael Smiley who also played another drug dealer named Tires in Spaced. That raps up the spaced throw backs. Shaun and Hot Fuzz have references as well. The scene where Simon is in the circle the women to his left is Nicola Cunningham who played “Bloody” Mary in Shaun. The male in the couple that Simon scares off from the house is Rafe Spall who played DC Andy Cartwright in Hot Fuzz as well as a zombie in shaun. Then we have Paddy Considine who played steve in The Worlds End and DC Andy Wainwright in Hot Fuzz. The we have the fence gag which appears in all three films. Near the end of the movie there is a bar game that makes its startup noise which is the same game that Nick Frost is playing in Shaun. We also have the amazing Bill Nye who plays Phillip in Shaun. The chief inspector in Hot Fuzz and the Network in The Worlds End.The last of the easter eggs that I caught was the Cornetto rapper. This has been the treat of choice in all three movies which is why the triliogy is appropriately called the Cornetto trilogy. I only watched the movie once so I may have missed some things. This is a very sad thing to have to come to terms with. This is the last film in this series. I loved every second of each movie. I remember watching Shaun of the Dead on my dell computer in 10th grade and being in shock of how amazing it was. I remember watching Hot Fuzz in the USA cinemas and again being in shock. Then The Worlds End just like with Shaun I watched it alone which is a shame to be honest. I still was shock at how talented these guys are. These movies have brought a lot of happiness to me. It is a sad thing to have to close down another thing in my life that I looked forward to... Cest la vie
