So, to prove my point about women dating here in the city not willing to actually date, here is a verbatim conversation over text with Laura, a woman I went out on a date with last week: Me: Had a great time the other night, would love to see you again. Just say when. ;) Then nothing for a few days, then I tried again. Me: Laura, Let me know if youre interested at all, if not then I suppose its my loss and Ill wish you all the best. Her: Id love to hang out again but am not free for at least a cpl weeks. Me: Hey! I understand completely and I dont want to get in the way of anything important. Perhaps we can just keep talking here or ever text or the phone as I dont want to lose the connection with you, between now and when youre freed up. Does that sound OK? Just let me know what youre thinking. Her: Ill let you know when my schedule frees up. I dont chit chat on-line. More of a just get together when I have time. Me: I’m so conflicted…you seem so cool, so beautiful…but basically what you’re saying is that, while you like me and enjoyed the time we spent together, I’m actually not important enough to you to talk to every now and then, so—maybe weeks later—when it’s convenient for you, you’ll let me know if and when we can meet again? Um, don’t bother… …wow, I guess I’m not that conflicted.
