Summary For Lesson 7 Faith That Works (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (Matt. 6:32) My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me - https://youtube/watch?v=Uh0FRmDYpoo We had a very powerful lesson this week. The Word of God made it very clear that Faith and Works are linked tightly. We cannot be saved by faith alone. We cannot be saved by good works alone. We are saved when we exercise faith in God which results in the good works of righteousness. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to do goods works. You see my friend; all throughout this week God continue to remind us that we need to have a deep relationship with Him in order for us to develop good works. The writer of the lesson reminded us that we exercise faith by doing good works. Now this is a very powerful point. Look at Abraham. God told him to leave the comfort of his parent’s home and to journey to a place where no directions were given. Most of us would not move an inch until we know we are going. In Malachi 3:10 God said that we must bring the tithe into the storehouse and He will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing upon us… we want to have the blessings poured out upon us before we trust the word of God. But this promise is conditional. We must obey before we can see the results of our actions. We must exercise faith in the promises of God before they will come to pass in our lives. Abraham exercise faith in the word of God and acted not knowing where He was going. Father Abraham did the same thing when God asked Him to sacrifice Isaac. Rahab did the same thing when the spies told her to remain in her house… which was not on the ground floor, Even though she was not a child of God, produced good works which was founded on her faith in the words of God’s messengers. I pray that as we continue to study the word of God each day that our faith in Him will grow from strength to strength. I pray that this strengthened faith will continue to express itself in good works. This is the only way we will receive a crown of righteousness when Jesus returns. Sis White said, Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). There are many in the Christian world who claim that all that is necessary to salvation is to have faith; works are nothing, faith is the only essential. But Gods Word tells us that faith without works is dead, being alone. Many refuse to obey Gods commandments, yet they make a great deal of faith. But faith must have a foundation. Gods promises are all made upon conditions. If we do His will, if we walk in truth, then we may ask what we will, and it shall be done unto us. While we earnestly endeavor to be obedient, God will hear our petitions; but He will not bless us in disobedience. If we choose to disobey His commandments, we may cry, Faith, faith, only have faith, and the response will come back from the sure Word of God, Faith without works is dead (James 2:20). Such faith will only be as sounding brass and as a tinkling cymbal. In order to have the benefits of Gods grace we must do our part; we must faithfully work and bring forth fruits meet for repentance. We are workers together with God. You are not to sit in indolence, waiting for some great occasion, in order to do a great work for the Master. You are not to neglect the duty that lies directly in your pathway, but you are to improve the little opportunities that open around you. The forgiveness of sin is promised to him who repents and believes; the crown of life will be the reward of him who is faithful to the end. We may grow in grace by improving through the grace we already have. We are to keep ourselves unspotted from the world if we would be found blameless in the day of God. Faith and works go hand in hand; they act harmoniously in the work of overcoming. Works without faith are dead, and faith without works is dead. Works will never save us; it is the merit of Christ that will avail in our behalf. Through faith in Him, Christ will make all our imperfect efforts acceptable to God. The faith we are required to have is not a do-nothing faith; saving faith is that which works by love and purifies the soul. He who will lift up holy hands to God without wrath and doubting will walk intelligently in the way of Gods commandments.” November 2, 2014 Unless We Are Willing Use The Means Provided To Us By God To Help Those In Need Our Faith In Him Is Not Alive Its Dead If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? (James 2:15, 16) November 3, 2014 When God Creates A Clean Heart In Us Our Faith In Him Will Be Accompanied By Corresponding Works For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph. 2:10) November 4, 2014 Unless Our Knowledge Of God And Believe In God Is Accompanied By Good Works Our Faith In Him Is Intellectual And Useless Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (James 2:19; Heb. 11:6) November 5, 2014 God Will Impute His Righteousness To Those Who Believe In Him And His Words And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. (James 2:23) November 6, 2014 God Will Stand Up For Us Who Are Willing To Step Out In Fact And Trust God Based On Their Knowledge Of Him Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Ps. 37:3, 4) November 7, 2014 At The Foot Of The Cross Self Will Sink Into Insignificance As We View The Perfections Of Christ Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mothers sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. (John 19:25)
