Thank you to all of our guests who have taken a moment to write a Trip Advisor review for Chubbys. Every so often we get a review that stands out and we like to share those with our friends! Thank you, John! “On the water with Captain Dwight” Several years ago we left behind the cold, cold north and relocated to Fort Myers Beach. As you can imagine we enjoy a large number of diverse visitors each year who all want to maximize their time on the island. As a result we have used a number of the local vendor offerings for charters and boat rentals; some of these are rigidly scripted and scheduled, and some “here’s the keys, be back at 5 or it will cost you $$ additional for every 15 minutes”. This week we tried Chubby’s Tropical Adventures and found the right balance of information and flexibility. Captain Dwight certainly knows the waters and wildlife around the island and he can fill you with interesting facts. However, he does not feel compelled to constantly talk, a frustrating habit better suited to the classroom than the open waters. Instead Captain Dwight indicates points of interest, or announces wildlife sitings and then allows the customer to decide how much more information they want. Although he had suggested routes we could follow he was very flexible and alternated our route to align with our particular interests. Friends visit the beach to have fun, relax and experience the natural paradise we live in. They don’t want to feel rushed or obligated to listen to a script. They want to feel safe, enjoy the sun, sea and company of each other. An added bonus for us, we didn’t have to pilot the boat, we were able to enjoy our company, have a beverage and not watch the clock. Captain Dwight we’ll be seeing you again soon, very soon and you should too.
