The National Weather Service in Dickinson has advised that there is a potential for strong-to-severe thunderstorms this afternoon (have you looked outside lately?) and every afternoon through Friday. They have stated that the atmosphere is in a favorable state for the formation of funnel clouds throughout this afternoon, and for Wed., Thurs. and Friday afternoons as well. A funnel cloud will occasionally drop down to the ground and become weak, short lived tornado. Bottom line: Make sure that you keep a close eye on the weather every afternoon this week. Realize that lightning can precede a thunderstorm by 10 miles or more, so if you hear thunder or see lightning, stop outdoor activities and seek shelter (yes kids, that means get out of the pool).
