The critically acclaimed movie “Foxcatcher” arrives in theaters today and has a very big connection to Edinboro University. EU Athletic Director and 4-time Olympic medal-winning wrestler Bruce Baumgartner contributed heavily to director Bennett Miller’s research for the film and even appears briefly in a cameo as a board member for USA Wrestling. He spent a great deal of time on the film’s Pittsburgh set, and even provided the production with several Olympic singlets and uniforms from his private collection. “Foxcatcher” tells the tragic true story of brothers Mark and David Schultz’s relationship with unstable multimillionaire John du Pont, as they trained at his private facility for the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. As contemporaries on the competitive wrestling scene, Baumgartner knew the brothers, who are played in the film by Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo.
