This Mummy fan wants your advice.... I have my 16 year old niece and nephew staying with me.Their mum is abroad so I took them in when I noticed they were not been cared for where she left them. The problem now is that these kids keep breaking all the household items in the house. Things like vases, dishes, wall frames, buckets, even wash hand sink in their bathroom, dining chairs and table etc. I know children will always break stuff in a home but is this not too much for 16-year-olds. The worst part of all is that I discover these broken items by myself most of the time. Recently, my niece told me she found the glass cover of my very expensive cookware I bought from London broken and shattered on kitchen floor. Meanwhile, this was after I saw the pieces and asked. As I did not believe her reply, I checked my CCTV recording and found out that she lied. She actually broke it with her carelessness. I desperately need to punish her but I dont what kind of discipline would be appropriate for lying. In the past, I talked, scolded, threatened and even insulted but these kids wont stop destroying my stuff. My hubby is not aware of all this, if not it would have been a serious issue because I literally forced him to accept them coming to live with us. Their mum my sister does not make matter easy because she tends to pamper them as she is not with them, making them always feel they will soon join her and all be well. This makes them think that I maltreat them when i scold them to correct them. She calls them 24/7. Pls advice as I can throw them out cause they are family.
