This is the evening report from Mayberry by the sea.......The late afternoon sun is filtering through the matchstick blinds in the studio sending dappled light onto the painted wooden floors.....the smiling Bob Marley Tapestry over the backdoor window is backlit as well and glows yellow red and pink in the kitchen.....I pulled a classic Rip Van Winkle today and slept through the entire day....all three naps........the pre-nap nap....the afternoon siesta nap......and the disco nap all ran together to create on giant nap.....I awoke at dawn to catch the first light.....they say that a red sky at night is a sailors delight...but a red sky in morning...sailor take warning...and this morning the sunrise was red but not threatening at all.....aside from the fact that day turning grey and rainy...and the sad fact that my bike The Shadow....a symbol of my rugged individualism......the coolest bike on the island...the bike that turns me into the American rebel......was inoperable do to the fact that I have been abusing it this summer...riding it through tidal pools and through the surf lapping the shore.....through the sand ......and leaving it outside in the elements has taken its toll on this iconic bike....the black and white leather seat is splitting....the silver bell on the handle bars is turning to rust and barley works...once the bell of terror to the chickens across the street.....now hardly has an effect on the sole chicken remaining....aside from the fact that the peddles are rusted as well as the chain and new handle bars...I got a flat today....I stared at it sitting outside of the open back door in the studio and it was a sad sight indeed...maybe that was why the sky was red.....who knows....I shook my head in shame.......I then turned around and flipped my fried shrimp in the electric skillet......cooked it to a golden perfection on the back steps.....and once the feast began I forgot all about The Shadow ......but I vow to restore it again.....so that it will ride like the wind once again.....on the streets of Mayberry by the sea....small town America on the coast
