Three peaks !!!! This weekend I had the pleasure of watching over 12 months of hard work come to fruition in good style !!! 12 months ago during a day walk to snowdon on a plodders trip it was someones hairbrained idea (naming no names) to do the three peaks and of course me being me said I would organise it all !!! 12 months later .............. A gang of crazy plodders having completed months worth of training, practice walks, navigation training, night walks, lectures on outdoors etiquette and preparation, nutrition and first aid awareness, overnight training weekends ..... Etc ....... Rocked up on saturday 28th June to take on the hugest challenge of completing the national three peaks We had tears and and tantrums We had shouting and crying We had fall outs and love ins We had horrible lows and epic highs At times I lost the will to live and spat my dummy out but by the end of the weekend I could not have been more proud !! Having had a role in these guys journeys to this day I felt like their teacher, mentor and guide and took their welfare and safety as my responsibility but I also took pride in their achievements I have witnessed most of these guys rock to plodders as absolute beginners unable to run for more than a minute or two and seen then grow and develop and begin to gather the strength and courage to take on any challenges thrown at them with a real - Im gonna nail this kind of attitude !!!! This weekend was all their journey rolled into one xxx with scared faces, fears, concerns and demons and doubt in their head and heart they faced the challenge head on and at many times wanted to throw the towel in !!! But no one did ! Despite injuries and niggles and full blown fears they all made it to the top of the highest peaks in England Scotland and wales They demonstrated true plodders spirit and we started as a team and boy did we end as a team - champagne and tears and all !!!! After chatting to many other teams on the mountains who lost members of their team to injury blisters or inability to complete a mountain many commented they hadnt anticipated the scale of the challenge !!! So you can imagine how proud I am about our TEAM!!! These guys have trained their arses off for this with months of hard work They have spent their wonga getting the right kit and equipment. They took on board (and humoured me) all the advice I gave about surviving in the outdoors and their kit bags were hundred percent correct !!! They all demonstrated perfect mountain etiquette and we even wombled our way down picking up other peoples litter They have donated over £200 to local mountain rescue teams to show their appreciation for keeping us safe - one even put this to use by calling in a rescue to wasdale mountain rescue after communicating with a fallen climber on scafell (he was rescued and taken to hospital ) They worked as a team showing support and encourage be even when times got tough I could not be more proud of each and everyone of them and I hope this proved to them what they are capable of !!! I hope it inspires others to take on challenges, prepare for them properly and then go out and smash it even when the tough gets going !!! This has been a life changing weekend for me for many reasons and I have had my eyes opened to so much and have made friends for life and as one of the ladies put it -we are part of each others history now as we will always be the TEAM who did the three peaks together !! Love you all the world and well done you all totally rock. #whatsahotspotnot #blistersarenotfaffitsfirstaid #fafftime #compede
