To Sylvie Therrien, Whistleblower Good for you, Sylvie - TopicsExpress

To Sylvie Therrien, Whistleblower Good for you, Sylvie Therrien. YOU are a true CITIZEN. I know the heartache you will live as a whistleblower. In 1996, I complained that it was immoral, unethical and illegal for Liberals to offer we public servants money or promotions for wrongly denying EI benefits to workers while handing those same EI dollars to Liberal supporters or grabbing them as tax revenues As a Christian and CITIZEN, I refused to cheat citizens. You did the same. In opposition, Harper Conservatives supported my saying that a public servant’s loyalty must be to the PEOPLE of Canada, ethics and good government. You and I would have been jailed by the RCMP if we falsified an expense claim but Harper, like Chretien, is now stealing our EI premiums and his sleazy Senate friends are stealing with expense claims. Canadians are FOOLS to be deceived by Harper. I am so sorry you are going through this Sylvie. You have integrity and courage. I wish you all the best in this life. We whistleblowers are the peaceful soldiers of democracy who fight for justice by TELLING THE TRUTH ! My family and I live in squalor because I told the truth. The worship of power and glamour is so ingrained, that Canadians are awkward and embarrassed when they meet people like us. This is not personal ego judging your betters but standing between the mighty and protecting those who cannot defend themselves. Don’t expect others to understand. . Friends and fellow workers will abandon and repudiate and slander you. I sincerely hope you are spared the Canadian sickness of shaming and shunning we who stand alone TO PROTECT THEM against powerful people. I know that you see people on employment insurance as decent people, fellow citizens and human beings and you cannot inflict unjust harm on them, even to save your job. And I know you need your job. You want to spare them the malice of their own government and the great sorrow and misery that the Harper government wills you to inflict on them. We whistleblowers MUST tell the truth, but it is not because we are better than other people. We are not leaders. We are like firemen or ambulance attendants. We are decisive individuals, but we identify strongly with you, the Canadian public. We care. We PROVE it. Then you abandon us. We see other citizens as people, just like us, equals everywhere, and we respect and value them, and cherish their human rights. We can’t hurt people to save ourselves. We know you will probably lose your homes, your hopes for the future and often your marriages. We will not hurt you to save ourselves. Sylvie Therrien, you have the “estrogen” that it takes to fight for the common good. I am so grateful to recognize you standing there alone with dignity and humanity as a totally honourable citizen and a fellow “public servant.” Michael Clancy, Employment Insurance Whistleblower 1996 , Hamilton, ON
