Tom Robinson wrote: I am mourning the loss of a friend and neighbor today... No, he didnt die, but my respect and admiration for him did, when I related my wifes and my actual experience to him and he said that we needed to lighten up... With an incredulous smirk on his face... See the following... I live on a golf course... I live about 150 feet from the 14 hole on the Glen Eagle Golf Course in Arlington Washington. Today they had a golf tournament, there were plenty of people, many under the influence , driving their golf cart across the greens which is something that is usually forbidden by the management. There was a table set up about 250 feet from my house with people who were officiating the games and directing the golfers towards the tees. At that table there was very loud music and dancing, loud and totally disgusting vulgarity. There were also some golfers who were tearing up the greens with their golf carts, speeding around in circles and yelling obscenitys drinking beer and throwing empty cans on the grass. I couldnt help but to think what would happen if they were people of color, what would my neighbors say, how many police would be on the scene and how many people would have gotten arrested. Now it was a pretty hot day and usually I leave my sliding glass door that leads to my patio open so that the air can circulate inside of my house but it was just too noisy today and I closed them and went about my business doing chores around the house, cooking and having dinner. About 6:30 PM, my wife and I went outside; like we do every evening to water and feed our plants and bushes. No sooner than our feet came in contact with the concrete on our patio did someone from the 15th.Tee Off, yell out, look at that nigger and spic taking care of someones lawn... and giggling and laughing immediately ensued. I turned and looked at this group of grown men and women looking towards my wife and I and most of them were laughing... I felt blood rushing to my head and I immediately dropped the hose and before I knew it my wife was holding me back, telling me to take it easy and calm down, that I knew that things like this happen all over the country everyday and I shouldnt be surprised, I found myself pulling away from her as she tightened her grip on my belt and then she said that if I went over there I would probably be the one to wind up in jail. There were a couple of guys taunting me saying things like yeah, you better listen to her boy. I could go on but I wont; I just wanted to share a tidbit of what my day was like... Tom ~
