Update from Edmonton, AB: Nathan and I have been so very blessed these last few days...well more than blessed in my opinion. We have seen and felt the wonders and miracles of God! The Border crossing was a nightmare. Nathan and I both thought that I wasnt going to be able to cross. Since we packed our car full of some of our moving items, the border crossing rcmps knew that we were trying to move. They sent us to immigration and there we spent 1.5 hours trying to figure out how I was going to get over. God brought two amazing men who worked at immigration to help us. They were determined to get me over the best way possible. After all was said and done, I was given a 6 month visitors permit! This means that I only have six months to get the spouse sponsorship papers submitted (which we are working on this week so prayers are appreciated!). We arrived in Edmonton, AB Saturday afternoon after a long and tedious drive. We were both a little nervous and uneasy at first. Edmonton wasnt really what we expected to say the least, but, the things that followed soon changed our opinion drastically. Saturday was a pretty stressful time for us. We spent most of the afternoon getting horribly lost. Thankfully, we purchased a really nice, detailed street map of the city. Next up was ANOTHER Tim Hortons stop (this had to have been our 14th time at a Tims). There we made calls attempting to find an affordable and clean hotel room...it wasnt looking good. Nathan remembered seeing a place called Ceder Inn, but it wasnt showing up on Expedia. I did a google search and found the number. We held our breath and prayed right before Nathan called. It was such a miracle to find out that such a nice hotel was only charging $149 for Saturday, and $129 for Sunday!! This is cheap compared to $169+. That night was met with homesickness, fur-baby sickness, and loads of edginess and stress. We felt that things were looking bleak and daunting. Thankfully, God had a plan to pull us right out of our funk. Sunday came and Nathan and I were both really nervous about attending New Beginnings Church (which is located on a seminary collage campus) simply because we didnt really know anyone. We met up with Pastor Paul and Pastor Pam in the parking lot on the way into the building. I felt my heart leap in my chest when I FINALLY got to meet these two patriots for God. This was only the beginning though. The service was, how can I put it, miraculous and divinely lead. We entered the sanctuary and were met with shock, smiles, love, and embraces. We could tell that these people were just as anxious and excited about our move as we were. Worship began and , let me tell you, God moved...I mean REALLY moved! It was that kind of fire and spiritual awesomeness that you find when you go on a missions trip to a 3rd world church that is completely aware and consumed by the Spirit! I havent felt so connected and amazed since Costa Rica. This wasnt some spiritual high kind of thing...this was a taste of what I believe the early Christians experienced. My jaw was dropped the entire service and I had tears just flowing down my face out of awe being in the presence of God. Pastor Paul spoke words that Nathan and I desperately needed that day. He instructed us about finding that secret, quiet place and shutting the door...shutting out all of the distractions and when we do that, when we find our holy of holies, miracles take place. When Pastor Paul finished, we concluded in prayer and worship. I noticed a lady move to the alter and pray. Suddenly, as I watched her, I felt my heart desperately reaching out for her. I felt like a small child who sees their separated sister for the first time and I literally ran toward her. I knelt down and embraced her. The tears began to flow and the prayers began to pour out. It was as if we both know what the other needed to hear and our hearts were connected. Neither of us knew the others name, but we knew each others spirits. I felt at that moment that I had finally found my soul sister, my (quoting Anne of Green Gables) bosom friend. I found out that this beautiful lady was Lori and we stood there for a while holding each other as if we were afraid that we might lose the other. The service concluded with powerful prayer for Nathan and I. That Nate would find a job and that we would find a house and better arrangements for the next few days. Afterwards, many people came up to us offering help, offering a job, encouragement, love, support, you name it, they gave of themselves to provide it. God moved that day...even the area around the building sparkled in the sunshine. There were literally sparkly somethings floating around as the sun shined down upon the church. Today has been miracle after miracle. Nathan has a job interview on Monday (or sometime early next week as long as the guy interviewing him has time) as well as a very promising phone call coming in from Jays man. We also managed to get out of having to spend thousands of dollars at a hotel. We are currently staying at the campus the church is located at for only $360 for the entire 2.5 weeks!! This is all thanks to Lori (the administrative assistant not my soul sister), Pastor Paul (who did most of the work), and two gorgeous and wonderful ladies who are currently staying at the college (they were the ones who suggested the idea to rent a dorm). We havent heard anything on the house front, but its pretty much useless to search until Nathan is set up with a job. If none of these leads work out, one of the men at the church promised that he would get Nate SOMETHING even if it doesnt pay much. That alone is a huge blessing! Im sorry this has been so lengthy, but theres just been so many incredible, miraculous, amazing, awesome, superdupermegafantastical things happening in our lives! Theres nothing we can do but sit back and watch God perform His wonders!
