We have had a lovely but tiring weekend. On Thursday after work we travelled as far as Temuka and stayed with our good friends John and Claire Barning (thanks for putting us up guys) and then on Friday we travelled to near Hampden south of Oamaru and stayed overnight with more dear friends Karl and Angelique. On Saturday morning we left Karl and Annies without our daughter who they kindly agreed to have for the night for us and headed for Owaka in the Catlins. Fleur and I stayed at Robbies Bed and Breakfast on the main Road of Owaka. Last night we attended the 50th birthday celebrations for Aileen at the Hall in Owaka and what a fabulous night we had, sitting with the small contingent of other folks form Christchurch and one form Dunedin. Steve and Aileen put on a fantastic dinner and three different sets of entertainment culminating in Steves well named band Noise Complaint aptly named after a senior resident of Owaka apparently made a noise control call after one of their first gigs in the town Pub. The music was awesome and we danced the night away, getting back to the guest house at 2 a.m. this morning only to be up again at 8 and into the dining room for breakfast. We went to the hall and helped a little bit with the clean up effort for an hour or so before heading back to Bluff Hills Road to pick up our daughter, who had a wonderful weekend with her Unlce Karl and Auntie Annie. Thanks so much for having her for us guys and thank you for feeding us twice over the weekend. After dinner tonight we headed off at 7 p.m. and sharing the driving we arrived home at just before 10.30. We are both thoroughly knackered and ready to hit the hay with work again tomorrow! All in all a wonderful weekend but a very tiring one with over 1,000 kms travelled.
