A VERY good friend made a well received presentation recently at a local drug abuse treatment program. He used something I told HIM before his presentation to the addicts in treatment, something I had learned running a drug counseling program long ago. I think he told the audience he got the story was from Gandhi or Oprah so they wd be more likely to remember the story. No problem. Its the message that counts. The point of the story is healing. What happens, for example, when you are cutting back your rose bushes and you get a scratch on your hand or arm? It may bleed some. You clean the area and put some pressure on the cut. What happens? Within a day or two the cut is gone. There may be no scar at all. The point that is so important for those recovering addicts and all of us is that your body and your mind are SO BUILT to heal. The higher power and millions of years of adaptation gave you this gift. Give your problems a bit of time. Put yourself in a helping place with the right helpers/mentors that can collaborate with your natural healing. Your body and mind are trying so hard to purge the toxins, the sadness, the frustration, the emotional paralysis so your innate healing tendency helps you bloom. It happens every day.
