A man has been charged with the alleged cultivation of cannabis after police seized plants from an industrial unit in Mt Ku-ring-gai yesterday. In February 2014, police from Gordon Region Enforcement Squad (RES) began investigations into the supply of cannabis in the Ku-ring-gai area. As a result of inquiries, yesterday (Tuesday 6 May 2014), Gordon RES officers were assisted by local police in executing a search warrant at an industrial unit on Hamley Road, Mt Ku-ring-gai. Officers seized hydroponic equipment and 50 mature cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $150,000. A 46-year-old man was later arrested at a Pennant Hills address, where a small amount of cannabis was also allegedly found. The man was taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with commercial indoor enhanced cultivation of cannabis and possession of a prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 28 May 2014.
