ALS, or more commonly known as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord that leaves patients paralyzed and sometimes even lead to death. The Ice Bucket Challenge began with a mission to raise ALS awareness and has gone viral ever since. Though the idea itself sounds a bit ludicrous, the campaign has actually increased donations by 1000%. You can either participate in the challenge or donate directly to alsa.org/.
