Alright everyone we have had some good news but have we really? We, at Save the Planes were torn over whether we would post the information that Stefaan has just shared or waited until it played out. In the interests of our supporters to show that their efforts and sacrifices are not in vain, we decided by vote of three to one to make the post. To recap Stefaan, there has been no deal struck between EPE and OKC for the purchase of the planes. This is only a rumor that has been spread. EPE has agreed, if it is acceptable to OKC to allow the planes to remain at Graceland under the terms of the original agreement beyond the April, 2015 dead line but for how long remains a mystery. The planes are still listed as for sale and it is our hope that whoever purchases them if they are purchased will be in a better position to deal with EPE than the folks at OKC. This brings me to probably the most important point. There is currently a tour of Elvis items scheduled to begin in the UK. Those items will come from Graceland exhibitions. This is a means for EPE to raise the cash necessary to remove the planes for good, build the hotel and the amusement park and turn Elvis into a cartoon character of himself and white wash over his legacy. To EPEs thinking, Elvis attracts many, but an amusement park will attract many more, even those from outside the Elvis world. To some degree this is cool thinking because more fans will be developed. The problem is it may be done by doing away with many parts of Elvis legacy. The auction of items was first, the planes, second, what next? This is the reason it is important to boycott the UK tour. Of all the nerve! They wont even print Elvis name on the advertisements. The King is how the advertisements appear and all true Elvis fans know Elvis hated that title. The next step is for Jack Soden to go to the basement, wake up Priscilla, bring her upstairs, hoses her off a little in the back yard, stick a microphone in her face and instruct the millions of Elvis fans that it was always a secret desire of Elvis to tour the UK. The sad part of all this is there are many fans that would believe such nonsense and spend their very last euro for a ticket. We, at Save the Planes, know that this tour may be possibly, the closest some fans in the UK will ever come to seeing any of Elvis personal items. We know that this puts you in an awkward position. Do you support Save the Planes or satisfy your hearts desire? We can not make this decision for you but we can tell you this, we will back you anyway you turn and you are always welcome here on this page. Friends, do you realize that this could all be settled simply by EPE asking the fans what they wanted to visit and working with the fans to come up with the ultimate Elvis experience that might be enjoyed by all? This type of interaction works and I am proof. A few years back, a struggling Italian eatery hired me as their executive chef. Many of the staff members couldnt pronounce the names of the items on the menu and the cooks couldnt prepare them either. I asked the customers what their favorite Italian dishes were and we set out to give the customers what they wanted rather than what we wanted to serve them and it worked! EPE has disrespected the Elvis fan base to such a degree that it amazes me that there are still tickets being sold. They are being sold because of Elvis not The King or of any marketing genius at EPE. To be successful in business you must give the customers what they want and in the world of Elvis, the customers want, Elvis. David.
