An open letter to my daughter Alice, written as if Amelia could express herself: Dear Mom, You are so awesome. I wish I could be with you every second of every day. Aside from myself meaning Me, Me, Me, I love you so much. Did you notice? I even follow you to the bathroom! I am so impulsive, did you notice? When I see doors, I want to open or close them, over and over! And, I want to take things out of cabinets. Oh, and drawers! When they are closed, I just want to open them! Did you notice? And, I want to take things out of them! And maybe put them back. Or....use them! Can they pour? Squeeze? Can I write with them? Ok, I want to pour, squeeze, dump, fill, smear, taste, run with them, walk with them, Oh, I cant make up my mind! Oh, theres another door! Better drop these and try that other door! I sure love these challenges! Sometimes, I can climb on these places! Did you notice, Mom? I like to go way up high! Wait, maybe I can go under! No, maybe on top. Will this table fall over if I push it? pull it? hit it? Oh, cool sound. Ill do it again. Whoops, I think Mom said no. Ill try another room! No Ill stay here and try it again. Whoops, Mom said no. Think Ill try again. Oh okay, Ill try somewhere else. Hi Mom! (hugs) I really love you. Why are you so mad? Oh, theres some new toothpaste! Im going to try and open it! Oh look at my doll. I can brush her teeth! So cute. kisses. Im so adorable. Think I need a snack. Thanks Mom! I love you. Look! I can paint with these peaches! Moms mad again. Better wipe my hands on the couch. Oh look, I can pour this drink! Wheres Mom? Hi Mom! I love you. Lets make footprints with this juice! Cool! Whoops! Mom says I know better. Can I open the front door? Im gonna try. Wait, theres the stairs. I can jump on these! Shake that gate down! Wheres Mom? Love you Mom! Im really adorable! Youre the best. Im hungry. Theres a marker! It writes on everything! Whoops, Mom is mad. Hey, it writes on Mom, too! I love my Mom. I want to be just like her.
