As I lay here wide awake after turning Ella in bed, my mind cant - TopicsExpress

As I lay here wide awake after turning Ella in bed, my mind cant help but to reflect back to a woman at the pool today. On these trips it is so glaringly obvious how different we are than 99% of the world. What is effortless to most comes with great challenge to us. This reality was perpetuated today as a woman of grandma like stature could not seem to take her eyes off of us. I couldnt read her well and asked myself is she intrigued? Is she appalled? Is she afraid? Why does she stare? My mind this morning wonders what do others see when they see us, see her. Do they see what we see? Her light that radiates like hot burning coals penetrating the depths of my soul? Do they see her passion and fire for life? Is it her encapsulating and unexplainable inner joy? Or is it pity, fear and disgust at a child so weak, vulnerable and different. As I was jumping up and down with Ella in the water, my answer started to form as I saw the corner of her mouth slightly turn upward. It was when Dan took her from me in the water and started walking in her direction did her smile burst forth in full wonder. Her eyes lit up, they followed the two of them closely. As he approached her, her eyes beamed with compassion and tenderness. Whew! There is was, she saw it. She saw what I see. EVERDAY. My heart became saddened this morning as I stopped to think about how so many (even those with the opportunity to be close to Ella and to see what this stranger saw) miss it. They are so focused on their uncomfortableness and Ellas condition that they miss the beauty of her. Galatians speaks of fruits of the spirit, joy is one. A gift granted from above to this child. Pure joy. And praise be to God that he has opened my eyes which has allowed me to experience this gift through Ella. Thank you to all of you who also have stopped to take her in and experience what we are blessed with daily. For those of you who havent, consider it. Today, a strangers soul was touched just with a simple glance. Sadly, with so much judgement on sweet baby girl and her condition, many, many others miss the moment. Take some time to look up fruit of the spirit in the word and see if you see Ella in any of those gifts. It is then, I believe, you will see God and His grace and mercy in her life.
