Astley & Tyldesley hosted the Northern Knock-out Cup meeting on Sunday. Heavy rain during the week left the track in a heavy condition for the first match. Conditions improved due to a drying wind, as the forecast heavy rain was limited to a couple of showers, with plenty of good racing taking place throughout the afternoon. The holders Edinburgh got off to a disastrous start in the 1st semi-final, scoring just 6 points from the first 6 races, as the other three teams were battling it out for the two qualifying places. Bury fell away in the 2nd half, as Sheffield and Hull tied on 47 points to qualify for the final, with Bury ten points adrift and Edinburgh a further eleven behind. Andy Angell raced unbeaten for Hull, with team mate Adam Stephenson losing only to Sheffields Damian Zareba in heat 16. Zareba lost only to Angell in heat 1. Northern K.O.
