Brace yourself for the Summer of Obamacare…Over the next few months, Republicans will be mounting last ditch efforts to block Obamacare, bolstered by several unions who suddenly realized it was a bad deal for their members, and by a new CNN poll finding that 54 percent of Americans still oppose it. The White House plans to fight back with a massive PR campaign that will send the President to all 50 states, as our insurance salesman-in-chief. Meanwhile, states are scrambling to get the exchanges set up by October. New York and California were the first to announce the initial average premium prices. They came in lower than feared. That’s being trumpeted as proof that the talk about skyrocketing costs was just fearmongering. Then again, the government initially thought $5 billion was enough to cover everyone with preexisting conditions until Obamacare began. A fraction of those eligible signed up, and they still ran out of money. Like most things we spend our summers doing, Obamacare is still likely to cost a lot more than we budgeted for it.
