Busy day here, so Ill try make it short. I just wanted to share a photo I took in the middle of yesterdays rescue. Poor Miley is just a year old, and as you can see she is in pretty bad shape. Luckily for her, she was spotted sleeping on a trash pile by a good Samaritan named Daniel, and he called me on the Hope For Paws line. I knew I had to leave town with Audrey again for more doctors appointments out of town, so I called my friend Sheila from The Fuzzy Pet Foundation - (TFPF), and she offered to take her in once she has the medical clearance to go to a foster home. When I first saw Miley, I was totally confused... did I just drive to a 3rd world country? It sure felt like it. I spent 30 minutes with Miley on that trash pile next to the railroad tracks... fed her a cheeseburger, and assured her that she is safe with me. When I decided it was time to go, she resisted for a second, but then walked to my car. After battling traffic for 2 hours with L.A traffic, I arrived at the hospital where I met with my friend Lisa Arturo. We gave her a much needed, long, medicated bath (she suffers from Demodectic Mange, a bunch of bacterial infections, high fever, nails that have overgrown into her paws, and like Cadence, she suffers from Entropion, so she will need to have an eye surgery too). The doctor at the Veterinary Care Center started her on fluids, antibiotics, we gave her dinner, and of course a comfortable bed to sleep on. I will post updates later... I have to go and visit her now.
