Call for Volunteers who want to help a good friend of Operation Homefront Illinois, the Illinois Currency Exchange Charitable Foundation. This organization has provided 1200 military kids with back to school supplies this year, and OH of Illinois strongly urges you to pitch in and help if you have some time this Tuesday! The ICECF needs volunteers to help them with their annual Back 2 School distribution at Broadway Armory Park (5917 N. Broadway Ave). The distribution day event will take place in the main space of the armory. They will need volunteers for each of the time slots listed below. You are more than welcome to sign up for more than one time slot. To become a volunteer email [email protected] . Please provide your name, phone number, and the time(s) you wish to volunteer. Below is a list of volunteer times and the work that will be assigned. If you have a job preference, or have worked a distribution day event before, please let us know. Food and beverages will be provided throughout the day. All volunteers will receive a t shirt. 8:00am - 10:00am (25-30 people) • Hang signage • Set up food/beverage, monitor station • Set up volunteer registration and food tables • Organize t-shirts, set-up recycling containers • Handle sign-in of volunteers • Set up activity areas and tables, chairs, power, microphones and platform stage, cones, etc. • Unload trucks with supplies into the armory. 10:00am – 12:00pm (40-50 people) • Handle sign-in of volunteers • Unload truck #3 and truck #4 • Move supplies into the armory • Assist in running activities for 500 children • serve lunch to volunteers, and monitor food/beverage station 12:00pm - 2:00pm (40-50 people) • Handle sign-in of volunteers • Handle check-in from YMCAs • Pack/load school supply kits onto dollies and load trucks, cars and vans of YMCAs • Assist in running activities for 500 children • Serve lunch to volunteers and monitor food/beverage station 2:00pm – 5:00pm (40-45 people) • Handle check-in from YMCAs • Pack/load school supply kits onto dollies and load trucks and vans of other YMCAs • Clean up (Take down banners, secure unclaimed kits, pick up trash, etc.)
