Carla Sue Darnell Brown, age 52 of Traphill, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was born September 30, 1961 in Surry County to Joseph Carl Darnell and Linda Sue Parks Darnell. She was a member of Open Arms Outreach Ministry. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by special aunts, Nancy Bauguess, Linda Parker, and Linda Darnell. Survivors include: father and stepmother, Joseph Carl and Cynthia Darnell of Traphill; fiance, Dwayne Wagoner of Traphill; sons, Richard Carl Brown of Elkin, Nicholas Johnson of Traphill, and Shawn Wagoner and his wife Tiffany of Winston-Salem; daughter, Whitney Wagoner of Winston-Salem; mother-in-law, Joann Crabb of Thurmond; brothers, Joey Darnell of Lenoir, Teddy Smoot of Elkin and Dennis Smoot and his wife Terri of Elkin; sisters, Robin Carter of Lenoir, Cindy Anderson and her husband Scott of Traphill and Tabitha Poplin and her husband Jamie of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughter, Kathryn Brown; special cousins, L. Keith Bauguess and Sandra Draughn, and many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621 or Yadkin Valley Home Health, 213 Winston Road, Jonesville, NC 28642. The Family would like to thank Dr. Carol Albright, Dr. Linda Turner, and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
